I'm raising £29000 to launch Kerpop from a bag to a brand

Story

In the beginning, there was a bag...

Inside was a QR code and a kernel of popcorn.

Altogether, the bag was worth a few pence.

But here’s the twist:

In the right hands, the bag is magic because inside it is a dream.

That dream is Kerpop.

Popcorn reimagined through flavours and handcrafted toppings inspired by the foods and drinks we love.

Whatever flavour you imagine, our aim is to create it.

The Magic Bag Challenge

The bag represents Kerpop and your belief in Kerpop is what makes the bag magic. But belief without action is wishful thinking.

The Magic Bag Challenge is a 90-day campaign powered by people, participation and belief.

The challenge is designed to launch Kerpop from an idea into the number one popcorn brand in the world.

For 90 days, up to 3,000 Magic Bags will be moving everywhere. From person to person, street to street, city to city, and beyond.

The goal is to get the bag into as many hands as possible.

If you receive the bag, you have one hour to:

1. Scan the bag.

2. Share a popcorn flavour using #WatchTouchTaste.

3. Pass the bag to somebody new.

4. Support Kerpop however you can.

For full campaign details, visit kerpop.com.

Each bag should reach a new hand every hour. Imagine each Bag as a relay baton moving from person to person, collecting flavours and stories from everyone who held it before.

Whilst you have the bag, its single kernel can represent whatever you imagine, so go wild. No judgement, just flavour.

It was all a dream.

I have a dream to #WatchTouchTaste strawberry cheesecake-flavoured popcorn.

It began in a cinema. I found myself imagining strawberry cheesecake popcorn made with pieces of actual cheesecake, finished with sauces and toppings.

Then I thought: That's bound to get messy. What about if I had a single glove? Maybe even a toothpick for afterwards?

Somewhere between that thought and the image of Michael Jackson eating popcorn in a cinema, I started dreaming about building an entire popcorn brand.

That dream evolved into Kerpop.

The last two years have been an epic journey of discovery and transformation; losing and finding myself, making mistakes and not always knowing what to do next. But I always believed in the dream and trusted the process no matter where it took me.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported and believed in Kerpop along the way. I wouldn’t have made it this far without you.

Transformation – From a bag to a brand

Inside a popcorn kernel, at around 180°C, pressure can build to approximately nine atmospheres. Eventually, the shell bursts and the kernel expands up to 50 times its original volume.

The Magic Bag Challenge works on the same principle:

If one Magic Bag reaches a new person every hour for 90 days, it could create 2,160 hand-to-hand moments.

Now imagine 100 new bags beginning their journey every day for 90 days. That's a lot of moments to share, connect, collaborate and support the dream.

Building a brand through movement

Our first practical milestone is raising £29,000 to establish a product-development kitchen and essential start-up infrastructure. These are working estimates; final spending will reflect premises, supplier quotes and launch requirements.

Additional funds raised will be directed towards where they create the greatest value for establishing and growing Kerpop.

• Food-safety compliance and licensing;

• Flavour research and product development;

• Mobile Kerpop units and stalls.

• Packaging, logistics and distribution;

• Pop-ups and micro-cinema experiences;

Reaching the first £29,000 target will establish Kerpop’s product-development kitchen and essential start-up infrastructure.

But what if we keep the bags moving for 90days?

One Bag, one hour, and one new hand-off at a time.

The next hour begins with you.

What’s your flavour?
