Story
In Doncaster, there is no professionally run commercial art gallery where emerging and professional artists can show and sell their work.
So 31 artists have come together to take matters into their own hands . We need your help to open an art gallery in the Waterdale area of Doncaster. This area has long been neglected with many businesses closed down. With your support, these 31 Local and regional artists will play a huge role in reviving the area.
We have a unit in Waterdale Doncaster which we need to renovate. We need the funds to do this. Once it is renovated, the artists will do the rest; rental cost, staffing PR etc.We need your help to get going.
Arts and culture is the building block of many thriving towns around the world. In Doncaster today, there are 100s of talented artists who have nowhere to show their talent and showcase their work on a regular basis. We desperately need a gallery space with can inspire future generations of great artists, give opportunities to young people, as well as provide the new art graduates with a pathway to a career.
A place which can provide internships for young people and a place where families can engage directly with creativity and arts. We have a unit in Waterdale Doncaster which we need to renovate. We need the fund to do this. Once it is renovated, the artists will do the rest; rental cost, staffing PR etc.
This new gallery space will serve as an important hub for the community, will inspire other businesses to move into the area, will provide vital skill acquisition and training for the artists and will provide learn, will provide an outlet for their work and will help to grow the economy.
Having a gallery representation is the most challenging and most difficult side of being an artist and with this gallery, this will be eliminated for the participating artists.
This will provide Doncaster residents somewhere interesting to go to in the town and would be a huge educational resource for schools and young people. It will inspire everyone.
Long term Vision for the project
We aim to open 5 art galleries in Doncaster over a 10 year period. This will enable us to create the Doncaster Art walk/Art trail which you find in other towns. What this means is that visitors would visit the town for the art walk at any time of the year, visitors would start from the new museum and then proceed to visit the other galleries and art spaces in the town. This I believe could become a major tourist attraction for our town. We just need your help to renovate the unit.
