I've raised £1815 to Waterloo March, raising money for the charity Waterloo Uncovered and for the 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot Living History Group.

The WATERLOO MARCH will take place over a two-day period starting on 21 May 2022 and finishing on 22 May 2022, in the area between Aythorpe Roding and Terling in western Essex. The march consists of a 30-mile fundraising walk split over two days with an overnight camp in between. The conditions of the the march and overnight camp will be as close to those of the Napoleonic period as practicably possible with health and safety in mind. Participants will be wearing full 1815 British infantry uniform, carrying all they need to live in the period for what amounts to around 24 hours.
The 30 mile walk is an approximate attempt to emulate and honour the same distance as the 2/44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot covered between leaving their billets around Brussels prior to the Battle of Quatre Bras and returning to Mont St Jean the evening before the Battle of Waterloo in June of 1815.
Funds raised will be split between the charity Waterloo Uncovered and the 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot Living History Group. Waterloo Uncovered, a world-class archaeology and education project charity on the battlefield of Waterloo with a support program for veterans and the military community. Funds raised for the 44th will go towards new uniform accoutrements to help members improve their impression and help to ensure the unit remains accessible and inclusive to new members.
