Weʼve raised £250 to buy sleeping bags and food parcels/ welfare parcels for the homeless people of Watford and surrounding areas.

Funded on Saturday, 7th December 2019

    Story

Under the current levels of Austerity, we have reached record levels of homelessness. We are looking to raise funds to buy sleeping bags and hire medical professionals to help the homeless of Watford and (ideally) further a field. The weather is near a change and it will only get worse for those who are sleeping rough. In an ideal world your donations will also help to give the people on the streets a night in a hostel on Xmas eve so they can wash, have a medical check up, receive a hair cut, and recieve a Christmas meal too. We are in talks with local business and hotels to provide a laundry service also for those we are helping. Anything you can spare is appreciated. It's not just about making people safe but more so about making people feel like people and not a statistic.

Apologies for he slow number of updates. We are still pushing this hard to get to the target number. A few of us have been struck with flu over the last two weeks but are back up and running now. Please continue to spread the word where you can via retweets, word of mouth etc. Obvioously we have seen a massive change in the weather this past week with torrential rain and winds so this really is the point we needd to start getting out there and offering all the support we can. Thank you again for your generosity so far.

Hey All. We have ordered a collection of emergency 30+ sleeping bags that are foil lined to be delivered by the start of next week. They will be a massive help to those who already have duvets or damaged sleeping bags. We still really need a massive push towards being able to get the food & welfare packages together and if you can ask friends, family or work colleagues, that would be amazing. Even just retweets would be great. We are also trying to find an additional cause to give any surplus amounts to. All suggestions are welcome

Afternoon all. Due to a large donation by cheque I have reduced the amount we are looking to raise as I would rather see us smash the target than potentially miss it. As always... Thank you for your support and please, please keep sharing the page. We are so close to 50% on here but are actually over that mark now (£490) in real terms. Why not stick a post up at work? Contact me via twitter if you would like one emailed. Thanks again x

I currently volunteer my time to a number of charities but time only goes so far. At present I cook for 20 people in emergency accommodation every week as well as collecting donations from local businesses including Nando's and Pret-A-Manger.
