Story

KO COVID-19 CAMPAIGN

Wath Amateur Boxing Club only opened in September, 2019 and in that time we have recruited many local members to try our sport. We regularly get 20 participants to the kids and youth classes and 10 to the adults. April, 2020 was supposed to see our first boxers competing, with some of the youth and adults ready to show off their skills in local shows. We set up Wath Amateur Boxing Club for the benefit of our local residents, and our gym is a sanctuary for many people in the local area.

The running costs of the gym are managed by our members paying weekly, helping cover the overheads of rent, insurance and utilities, totallying a monthly cost of £460. At this stage, there is a great level of uncertainty around the impact that coronavirus will have on Wath Amateur Boxing Club, as we will still need to cover our overheads throughout the coming weeks and months, but with little to no income to do so.

That is why we are backing the “KO COVID-19” campaign, appealing to members of our local community to donate whatever they can to your local boxing club, to help ensure that when we as a nation have KO’d Covid-19, there is still an amateur boxing club in Wath upon Dearne that people can return to.

Thank you in advance,

Darren, Mary and the team.
