    Story

IT'S COMING OFF! Our furry friend is going to do it - he has decided to sacrifice his trademark fuzz in aid of a wonderful little boy's wish to walk.

Here's a little bit about Rory written by his parents:

Little Rory is 5 years old & he has cerebral palsy He has a wish to WALK !! When he was 8 months old, we were told he would never talk or walk. Rory can talk & with help we know he will WALK !! Unfortunately we got some bad news about little Rory's hips while in Boston Children's Hospital last December. Rory is requiring double hip surgeries at a cost of 121,334 - He is too weak at the moment for these surgeries and so will begin neurological rehabilitation & intensive physiotherapy which will see him improve and gain strength before he returns to Boston in July for the surgeries. The neurological rehabilitation center is costing €2,200 for each 4 week period - Rory's physiotherapy will cost an additional €660 per 4 week period. Its going to be lots of hard work for Rory .....but we know he can do it !!! Rory will return to Boston Childrens Hospital in the USA for surgeries on both his hips which will ensure Rory is pain free along with allowing him to improve and progress with his wish to walk & ultimately reach his goal of independent walking. Rory requires care for life - he has extensive needs & your support would really make a huge difference to our little boys life.

We are full of HOPE for Rory

We love him more each day. Care for life for Rory means affording what he requires to give him the best life possible. The surgeries Rory requires are Femoral Osteotomy, this surgery has to be carried out on both of his thigh bones. He also requires a pelvic ( hip ) Pemberton fosteotomy surgery on both hips.

Like any parents, all we want is the best for our child. We hope that Rory will have the ability to live an independent life, hopefully we will see him able to care for himself to a certain level. We are putting in as much time and effort as we can now so that hopefully when Rory is a young adult he will be able to do the simple things in life that we take for granted like showering himself, walking to toilet , getting himself dressed, getting himself in & out of bed etc...

A massive thank you to everyone that has supported little Rory so far , lots of love from Shauna , Gerry , Lily , Kyle and especially wee Rory

THANK YOU all so very much xxx

The fuzz is coming off at the end of June which gives us just over a month to raise as much as possible.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
