Story

Homelessness is a massive problem in Liverpool City Centre. I travel to work each morning seeing similar faces that have spent the night on Liverpool streets.

We have some excellent shelters in this City! So this makes you wonder, why are there so many people left exposed to the harsh night environments.

Yes, some shelters will have rules in place that exclude some people, However my experiences as a young adult showed me that there is also other reasons.

As a young adult I got into a small debt because of drugs. This situation led to me running away as I was scared to turn to my mum and dad for help, but also to proud to let other know of the situation I was in.

At first i spent a couple of nights with friends. Then as I didn't want them to know my situation I moved into the city centre. After a week, there was a few close encounters were I nearly bumped into people I knew, and as it was becoming clear that I was struggling to look hygenic I decided to.move further a field.

So I jumped on the train to Southport. Again I spent a few days here but I was struggling to find areas were I could settle. One sunny morning I was stood on southport pier and I could see the Blackpool Tower.

So I decided that I had nothing better to do and i started walking. It was suck a great idea at first, less likely to see people I knew, bigger city more opportunities etc. After the longest walk in my life, I found myself sitting on a bench under the Blackpool Tower.

I was scared! Didn't know where was safe, no one to trust, no way of getting food. It was terrifying.

The next couple of weeks seen me stealing my food every day(I just wouldn't beg for money), sleeping in huts on the Blackpool Sea Front and running away from every single relationship opportunity.

My family saved me! Till this day I still don't think I would have asked for help. My family tracked me down, not everyone has family like me.

Just 1 person at a time, I want to help get people back home
