This year, Home from Home, Hallam, welcomed a refugee family from Syria to the city of Sheffield. It is a young family of five including a severely disabled child. Home from Home Hallam have secured the family a place to live and set them up to re-start their lives in our city. The family have complex needs and Home from Home is wanting to raise money to help support the family through the winter. They need interpreters to help them traverse the social security and employment systems in this country as well as support with clothing and food and of course winter fuel bills.
I teach mathematics at All Saints School in Sheffield. I am also a massive Sheffield United fan who is prepared to humiliate myself if I raise enough money. If we hit our target I am prepared to wear a Sheffield Wednesday shirt for an entire day at my school - not under anything but loud and proud. I will teach all my lessons that day and even walk around school wearing something that will make my skin crawl. I'll even allow people to take pictures of me wearing it. I'll even post pictures on my social media feeds.
Please help me humiliate myself for an incredibly good cause. All money raised will go to Home to Home Hallam to help support our refugee family. My humiliation is miniscule in comparison to what this family must have experienced. Let's show them how wonderful and welcoming we are!!
