Story

My name is Wayne Foy, and I am an international teacher currently living in Yangon, Myanmar with my family. We are originally from Kirkby in Liverpool and have been here for around four months.

On Friday 28th March, Myanmar was struck by a devastating earthquake just outside the city of Mandalay. Here in Yangon, we felt the tremors and had to evacuate our students to a safe area. Thankfully, Yangon has remained largely unaffected, with no reported fatalities and only superficial damage.

Sadly, other parts of Myanmar have not been so fortunate. The city of Mandalay and surrounding regions have been devastated—buildings have collapsed, and many people are still trapped beneath the rubble. Thousands are already confirmed dead, and the toll continues to rise.

I am trying to raise £100 to support those affected, helping them access basic essentials such as clean water, food, and shelter. All donations will go to trusted local charities, ensuring that the funds reach those in urgent need as quickly and directly as possible.

Please give whatever you can—no matter how small. Every single penny will help the people of Myanmar begin to rebuild their lives.
