Story
When you've run out of options, where do you turn?
For hundreds of people across Cornwall, the answer is a single building, open for just two hours every Thursday.
The West Cornwall Legal Advice Centre is the only pro bono legal clinic in the county. Every week, solicitors and barristers give up their time to sit down with anyone who needs help — completely free of charge. A parent worried about a childcare dispute. Someone facing a problem with their property. A person trying to sort out a will, untangle a family matter, or resolve a disagreement that has left them feeling powerless. Whatever the issue, they are welcomed, listened to, and matched with the right lawyer to help.
In less than a year, we've supported over 350 people. Not one of them was asked to pay a penny.
But demand is now far outstripping what we can offer. Every Thursday, more people arrive than we can see. The advice is free. Keeping the doors open is not.
We're raising £1,000 to keep this clinic running — to cover the everyday costs that let our volunteers keep doing what they do best: giving people a fighting chance when they need it most.
Access to justice shouldn't depend on what you can afford. Please donate today, and help us keep that promise.
