I've raised £1000 to Help Welcombe Radio expand our community programmes

Tori Rushton is one of our longest serving programme-makers. Her show, Sounds of Stratford , gives air-time to Stratford's up-and-coming musicians and performers. Tori's many talents include cycling. On Sunday 7th October Tori is undertaking a 100-mile cycle ride to raise money for Welcombe Radio.
Nestling at the foot of the Welcombe Hills, Stratford upon Avon is home to Welcombe Radio . We are a not-for-profit organisation that relies on grants and donations. Our ethos is to provide a welcoming supportive environment for individuals and groups from the community to broadcast, inform and entertain their fellow community neighbours through the medium of radio. Our aim is increase social inclusion by supporting the many local organistions, charities and individuals who are part of life in Stratford.
We have growing schedule including programmes run by Heart of England MENCAP and Springfield Mind. Our programme-makers include young people, local musicans, writers, members of the Polish community and people active in all parts of the Stratford upon Avon community . We are based at Foundation House , a community hub which home to many of the organisations we work with.
Money raised will help the development of programmes about health and wellbeing, support for parents and families, links between national and local events, local history, and sport. We will also be able to increase the number of outside broadcasts we make of local events. We provide work placements for young people who wish to learn about broadcasting.
All of this activity will help to give a voice to people from all parts of our community.
