Story
** Update 25th November 2017 - £165 raised from the previous page so now reinstated to make sure we try and hit the target **
The issue of speeding through the village of Welney is a topic that most local residents are frustrated with.
Welney Parish Council have recently been successful in their application to Norfolk County Council for the agreement to purchase 'SAM2' (Speed Awareness Message) traffic speed monitoring equipment. The package includes a digital sign which can be placed at different locations throughout the village and will display and also capture the speeds at which vehicles are travelling.
The equipment has successfully been used in villages across Norfolk to help reduce the speed of vehicles and the data gathered provides vital evidence, which can then be passed to Norfolk Constabulary to enable them to take further action.
The cost of the equipment is £2,800. Half of this amount has been awarded to Welney as a grant, however this still means that we need to raise £1,400 ourselves. If we can raise this amount then the equipment will be owned by the Parish and will be available to use not only now but also in the years ahead.
Thank you for your kind support.

Mat. Many thanks for organising. These SAM2 safety cameras are urgently needed to support campaign for traffic calming within the residential areas of the Welney Parish.
