On 8th of July 2018 I will be running the Gateshead 10k Great Run to raise funds for ESPA College - North Rye.

Education and Services for People with Autism (ESPA) have four College sites which provide education and support for young people with ASD and related difficulties. Much of our work involves supporting learners to develop social communication and independent living skills to prepare for the next stage of life. Often this is moving on to a mainstream College, supported internship or employment. We are raising money to buy a new minibus so that learners who are socially anxious and not yet ready to use public transport can get out to College and the community. Some students attend work experience which is not easily accessible and so our own vehicle would be more cost effective than taxis. Many young people with ASD can be socially isolated. Our own minibus would be an invaluable resource for helping learners to work as a team during Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, social enterprise and social evenings.
