Story

Well , yesterday I had a conversation that left me truly speechless. As you all know Charlie has Albinism, he was diagnosed early and in this country we are lucky that we have easy access to suncream, uv clothing, are able to access funds to provide these things etc..

Last night i was speaking to the most amazing lady who runs an orphanage in Uganda. The conversation left me broken.

She has 64 beautiful, precious, wonderful children with Albinism currently in her orphanage (alongside many others that don't have it of course ) There were two parts of this conversation that made me break.

Firstly a part that i've heart before but still destroys me every single time i hear it. That these beautiful children are hunted because of their genetic condition by people that want to do them harm. Thankfully now they are guarded so able to go outside when the guards are there. but just how horrific even IS that ??? I looked across the room at Charlie at this point and a tear dropped down my cheek as he sat playing in a safe room never knowing anything like this and wished i could scoop them all up and hold them tight.

I couldn't fix that and never could.

The second part of this conversation is this .....

these 64 beautiful children can not go outside until after 5pm ..... they are stopped from going outside in the beautiful fresh air until evening because there just aren't enough funds to supply the precious sunscreen and hats needed to protect their beautiful but fragile skin from the strong and dangerous sun. Albinism is such a dangerous condition. They have already lost beautiful children because of it :( This made me SO SO sad. These children will soon be grown up and are watching their childhoods from inside a room looking out of a window !!! they are watching their peers run around outside and come and go but have to stay inside until it's safe to go outside.

When i spoke to this lady more imagining it must cost an absolute fortune to provide all of this for so many children, and we sat and worked out how much it would cost to provide it for them to get out for the next part, they actually only need to raise the equivalent of around £250 ( although obviously more means more sunscreen and less pressure moving forward ! ) i mean seriously...... that's the equivalent of what we spend on a mobile phone ..... a games console ..... a year of takeaways ..... it's CRAZY !!!! this is the gift of giving 64 beautiful children time to run around outside and spend time outdoors safely together <3

I've not slept thinking about these children.

So i'm now on a mission and want to raise something towards getting these kids outside and playing in the safe sunshine.

Me and my little family are going to plan some little missions to raise this money so please look out and help us get this smashed ! <3
