Story

Thank you for watching our short film that was kindly produced for us by Northern Films Ltd.

West Hull Community Sports Club is one of the most successful clubs in amateur Rugby League and we are proud to say that we have seen many young people come through the Club’s ranks to represent their country at various international levels. Also, a number of professional players at Super League and Championship level have come from our Club.

The fact is we are very proud of our history and achievements for the community of West Hull CSC and we hope to continue for many more years, helping more children from the local community become successful people.

However, this is becoming more and more difficult with ever increasing costs in operating the club whilst our revenues, if anything, decrease. We have seen a significant decrease in use of our Clubhouse in recent times which we can only assume is reflective of the decreasing number of pubs compared to recent years. Our bar revenue is the main way we generate funds to run the club so it stands to reason if we don't increase use of the Clubhouse we will not survive in the long term.

At present it costs us approximately £600 per week just to keep the doors open for overheads such as rent, rates, general maintenance, cleaning, facilities management, lighting, heating and insurances etc. This is excluding the costs of operating the rugby teams.

Unfortunately, and despite the efforts of all of our volunteers, our current levels of revenue versus our essential costs is simply not sustainable in the long term.

The time has now come for us to appeal to kind hearts and local businesses for help. We wish to keep our community Club running for the benefit of the local community by asking if you would kindly consider making a donation which would greatly help us continue to provide a great environment to develop these young people.

We are asking for donations to enable us to refurbish our Clubhouse with the aim of making the venue appeal to the local community as somewhere they would use.

By doing so you can feel a sense of pride in knowing that your donation to West Hull CSC will help us achieve this.

Please read on for more information about West Hull ARLFC.

West Hull Amateur Rugby League Football Club was founded in 1961 originally Birds Eye ARLFC with two open age teams, it then became Cawoods with Villa Youth Rugby been the junior section of the Club. In 1971 it all became West Hull ARLFC.

We currently have a total of 16 teams and start with players as young as 4 years old. We have two open age teams, one of which competes at the highest level the National Conference Premier League and the other in the Yorkshire Men’s Premier Division. All this equates to having approximately 400 players, mostly children, registered with our Club.

We not only coach our children their rugby skills but also discipline, team spirit, respect and social and moral values their time here with us at the Club. This keeps a lot of young people off the streets being part of a highly successful and admired amateur rugby league Club.

From all at West Hull Community Sports Club, thank you for donating.
