Story
Wethersfield Shop has been running since the first lock down last March and was brought together by the committee of Wethersfield Club, our response in the time of crisis has been to develop a village shop in a disused room of the club. This was set up to serve the village during a time where many people couldn't get out or were forced to stay at home. From modest beginnings it has grown into a full-scale store stocking a wide range of day-to-day essentials which have mostly been suggested by the customers who use the shop, this has enabled us to stock what people want and to add more products as time has gone on.
In common with other licenced premises the club has been unable to trade, and the shop has been a lifeline not only to the village but also to keeping the club afloat and in the public eye, we'd love this to continue with your help and generosity.
Recently we received planning permission which was obtained by the hard work of our committee, this will enable us to keep the shop on a permanent basis but improvements and support are needed. We are hoping to bring the room up to a standard which would be suitable to the local council. This includes improvements to electrics and lighting, new flooring, ceiling and walls, plus a few more shelving units to enable us to grow our range of products even further. This work can all be done hopefully for a modest outlay, which would transform the room into a bright, modern, welcoming space that the village deserves.
Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated and 100% of your money will be spent on improving the premises for the benefit of the village, for years to come.
