Story

Welcome to my story..

A very fit and healthy sport loving active child. However every soon changed. At the age of 14, while playing tennis. I developed a severe pain in my feet. This pain didnt dissapear either. After being told it was just growing pains; 2 years later, i was left to be in a wheelchair. Painful spasms, cramping of my leg muscles and invertation of both ankles.

But this wasnt going to stop me..

While being thrown from here to there, to seek opinions from diffferent doctors.. they finally told.me that i had a movement disorder called dystonia.

I wasnt going to let this beat me. It made me more.determined.

I was invited to play wheelchair tennis.with some people in Shrewsbury. And attending the 1st session, it made me feel amazing/it made me feel me. I loved every second of it. And i honestly think this was the best thing which i ever did.

In just 2 years i represented Great Britian in the World Team Cup over in Turkey and Japan. Got myself a highest Junior World Ranking of 14. And was the 1st ever winner of the Sainsburys School Games Wheelchair Tennis event.

The aim was the Paralympics 2020!!

First of all i had to get my badly torn shoulder operated on. This injury was a overuse tennis injury; maybe from hitting the ball to hard...

A day case shoulder operation... was infact an 11 month hospital inpatient stay....

A reaction to the general anasthetic left me practically comatised(breathing on my own though) for 2 weeks. When i finally came round, i was unable to bend my knees or gain any hip flexion to allow me.to.sit up.

And cut a long story short. Doctors are still unsure, however belive that due to the reaction of the anasthetic, i had develoled a functional fixed dystonia, leaving me unable to sit.up properly and have any knee flexion.

Leaving me now in an eletric chair.

However i repeat again, this wont stop me.

Alot of hard work needed. But i will compete at a Paramlympic games!!
