We would like to raise funds to buy wheel chair equipment, so that Clare can win more medals and be able to train to get back up to marathon distance. Initially Lisa was fundraising alongside training for the London Marathon, now this has past we are continuing to raise funds!

Clare is a marathon runner who is now an amputee and is keen to get back racing. She is unable to wear a prosthetic due to chronic nerve pain and therefore she needs a wheelchair that enables her to be more active, ensuring good physical and mental health. Clare is a regular volunteer at Frogmary Green Farm parkrun and is raring to get racing and achieving again!

Accessibility is limited by finances - Clare's current NHS wheelchair is very basic and causes her pain in everyday activities. The arm rests give her bruises. It's unstable at speed and limits how fast she can go. She has back and shoulder pain, as the wheels are not personalised or set at her centre of gravity. Clare can't travel across gravel, fields, or uneven ground and has been unable to go onto the beach, and misses nature. All of this would be possible with the additional wheel. Clare's entering the 2024 ballot, hoping to race using the equipment you are helping purchase!
