    Story

‘Wheels & Jigs … From Here to Clare’

The ‘Knockmore Ceili Band’, will pair up with the ‘The Tumblin’ Paddies’ to make the astounding journey from Dromore, Co. Tyrone to Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare on Sunday 8th July 2018. As well as many other acclaimed musicians, friends and family from all over the country taking part – it is sure to be none other than a musical adventure, building up to the ‘Willie Clancy Traditional Irish’ music week.

Since ‘Wheels & Jigs’ was founded, the cyclists have astonishingly made a significant difference to many families across Ireland. Having raised over a remarkable £10,000, ‘Wheels & Jigs’ always set out with a purpose - to raise funds for charities that will always remain close to their hearts. Thus far, Alzheimer’s, NI Children Hospice, Galway Hospice, Pieta House and Action Mental Health. This year however, the ‘Wheels & Jigs’ cycle will be in memory of their late and dear friend, Connie Leonard.

Reigning from Co. Fermanagh, Connie lost her life to Domestic Violence in 2017 under tragic circumstances. With so much passion for Irish Traditional Music, Connie was a phenomenal musician, an amazing teacher and was none other than an idol for so many bands, groups and generations of musicians throughout Ireland and further afield.

In the early hours of the Sunday morning, the team of cyclists will set off from ‘The Clock’ in Dromore, Co. Tyrone and embark on their 200-mile journey to be completed within TWO DAYS to Miltown Malby, Co. Clare!

Finally, a tremendous thank you to all of the sponsors and members of the public for their generous donations and continuous support, it is immeasurably appreciated. Anyway, we look forward to meeting new people and we will see you all at the finish line!
