WHEEL TO GAZA - Sha Qadir plans to wheel from London to Gaza in his wheelchair.
Hello, I am Sha Qhadir and I am planning to wheel in my wheelchair from Glasgow, UK to Gaza on 28th Sept. It will take around seven months and I welcome everyone and anyone to join me along the way for however long they like. As well as raising a small amount for my costs, I am also raising money to support disabled children in Gaza by building a rehabilitation & sports centre there with the Gaza Sunbirds - Palestine's Para-cycling Team. Donations will be split between this, the Gaza Sunbirds aid missions, Medical Aid for Palestine and Red Cross.
I ride to help end the horrors for them and particularly for the children in the strip, I don't want anyone to go through what I did with my amputations.
If you want to support me, you can join, donate, host me or introduce me to local media, film makers and politicians to meet me. I also welcomes advice and volunteers for my organising team. I will announce information on the full route soon!
Join Sha on his journey (all wheels welcome), host him, support and spread awareness for the campaign, follow on social media & get in contact: www.linktr.ee/wheeltogaza
SHA'S CHOSEN CHARITABLE MISSIONS
The Gaza Sunbirds: Palestine’s first and only para-cycling squad have been delivering food and emergency supplies across the strip for 22 months. To date they have distributed $520,000 worth, working with partners HEAL Palestine, Amos Trust, ACS Italia, Ajyal and World Central Kitchen to ensure they are able to transfer money into Gaza and make sure supplies reach the right people. In recent months, they have been forced to pivot to ultra-targeted “hit-and-run” relief actions designed to meet the most urgent needs. Recent missions have included the fresh-food lifeline - securing 400kg of vegetables for 130 households despite soaring prices and the Northern Gaza water run - delivering safe drinking water to isolated neighbourhoods cut off from regular aid corridors.
Medical Aid for Palestine: Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. We provide immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system. MAP's local team are themselves Palestinians from Gaza. Working in incredibly difficult conditions, they were the first to respond to the current emergency by releasing our pre-positioned stocks of drugs, medical disposables, and other humanitarian supplies held in our warehouses inside Gaza. As needs inside hospitals continue to grow, MAP is now procuring additional supplies locally. Where local stocks are unavailable, we will seek to procure from outside Gaza and are working with UN and NGO partners to advocate for immediate, unimpeded, and safe access for humanitarian supplies and personnel into Gaza.
The Red Cross: Since 2023, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has distributed more than 1.6 million emergency relief items and processed more than 22,000 trucks of humanitarian aid. Despite security risks, dwindling supplies and access restrictions, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has continued to operate in Gaza, day in and day out. Our PRCS colleagues are from the very communities they help. Despite the impossible conditions they’re living in, they continue to get up every day and do all they can to help their neighbours in need. Their continued work provides a small glimmer of hope to their communities in a very dark time
