    Story

In 2009 Budland English School was founded in the village of Baluwapati, 40 km north-east from Kathmandu in order to improve the village education. It focuses on the English language as well as Nepali to give the children more opportunities in life. When Nepal was hit by a major earthquake in April 2015 and its many aftershocks in May 2015 the Budland English School was destroyed along with 91% of houses, people were left homeless or living in tents. With the help of many volunteers the local community managed to set up a temporary structure of wood columns, beams and tin sheets for the school. This environment proves to be very difficult as the conditions are hard and the children and teachers are challenged by strong winds, monsoons, very cold winters and hot summers. The devastation caused by these earthquakes have put a strain on the lives of many people in Baluwapati and the children are desperate for new facilities which will provide a better and more efficient learning environment.

This project is a labour of real LOVE and COMPASSION. David the project founder has dedicated his time and effort into helping the less advantaged and most underprivileged children setting up a safe learning environment and offering a solid and stable education. The new school will give local children the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge for a better future. This hopefully breaks the generational cycle of poverty and most importantly empower these children to actively participate in society and ultimately lead to a higher quality of life.

I would like to make a difference and give something back by supporting David in his project, to raise as many funds as possible and to give these kids the same opportunities you and I have had through our education. I will be there myself in October to personally give my support, get to know the children and local community and most important to help rebuild the school.

I believe that where we start in life shouldn’t determine where we finish it.

We live in a world where everything is possible with the right education and the use of modern technology. We seem to have unlimited opportunities, too much of everything and we are spoilt for choice. I want to remind everyone that we are all very fortunate about how we can live our lives. We are rushing through life and sometimes forget how truly blessed we are. Our problems evolve mainly around ourselves and we are constantly trying to better ourselves by collecting more stuff we don’t really need. Unfortunately, there are places like Nepal where young adults and children are not so spoilt for choice.

We can all change this and help these children to have similar opportunities as ourselves.

This project is very close to my heart and I would be entirely grateful if you could support this cause too. If you also believe that everyone deserves access to a quality education to set the foundation for a brighter and better future then you can make a huge difference with your donation. Unlike with other big organisations every single penny donated will not only go to rebuilding the school but also to set up a scholarship programme, a library and many more facilities where children can grow and learn.

This project is much more than just building the school its about making a change for the better.

If you would like to get involved long-term and if you are thinking about giving a child a better future with a scholarship find out more and visit the website http://buildingbudland.com/#budland or contact David via Email at David@buildingbudland.com.
