With current economy issues and "unwanted " covid pets, we are being asked more frequently to rescue or rehome unwanted small animals . Over the past 2 years we have rescued and rehomed over 40 small animals including budgies, gerbils, rats, hamsters, rabbits, guineapigs and even pygmy hedgehogs. Originally we planned to fund this out of our profits from our pet supplies shop. However due to the current financial situation we are all nationally affected by , we cannot afford to do that anymore . We are getting more animals brought in that are very old or have health problems , which is incurring vet and medicine bills.
Due to these extra expenses we have been left with no option but to start fundraising. We are not a registered charity but believe our mission is a very worthy one.
We would appreciate even the smallest contribution " pennies make pounds" as they say.
As well as saving animals we are also training , and applying for , 2 of our resident rabbits, Smokey Joe and Pompom to become therapy animals, to bring a smile to elderly residents and people with special needs . This may be something we can expand on with the potential to visit schools educating future pet owners on the responsibility, time and expense it takes to look after different types of animals.
