Story

I intend installing a webcam on the lifeboat boathouse to look down the harbour towards the piers and sea. This would be accessible free of charge to anyone and everyone but would be of particular use to those intending to go to sea and wanting a better idea of conditions before venturing off their moorings.

The RNLI is currently financially stretched and cannot be asked to pay the cost so a donation to cover the cost would be very much appreciated.. Any money left over would be donated to the RNLI general funds.

Thanks again to all; those who supported our appeal. Unfortunately becasue of corvid restrictions we are as yet unable to allow anyone into the station to install the webcam but please be assured that your donations are being kept in a separate bank account ready for when we can proceed.

A very big thank you for your generous donations and support for the installation of a web cam. Together with a separate donation of £250 from Whitby Boating Association you have raised £1,510. This is more than needed for the webcam and installation so the rest of the money will go to helping keep Whitby’s two lifeboats financed. Our normal fund raising activities are currently suspended because of covid-19 so this contribution will be especially welcome. My initial target was well beaten so thank you once again.
