So this beautiful , gentle , fun little lady has joined the madness that is our household .

Whisper , or Whizzy as shes become, is to be Phoebes assistance dog and very special friend.

As a family she has already bought us joy and focus through a very difficult period. We are all totally smitten and think she quite likes us too!

As for what she’s bought for Phoeb it’s hard to put into words what she has already done , even without her specific assistance training . She’s a friend without conditions , she loves Phoebe without putting any expectations of her, she has given Phoebe calm and a focus when situations are becoming overwhelming. I feel she’s given Phoeb the feeling of self worth when she’s responded to her training commands (sit , stay etc) and responsibility for something (Whispers breakfast and tea!) They are already a little partnership but Phoebe is happy to share Whisper with us all. Sharing can be a struggle for Phoebe but is was a very important need for us as a family that Whisper part of the family as well as Phoebes special friend .

Whisper has been with us to the pub, to cafes , to be supermarket and made it a much less anxious experience for Phoebe.

We’ve also enjoyed lovely family walks , some with Phoebe on the trike which have run so much more smoothly with Whisper around. The amount of meltdowns that Phoebe has experienced in the last two weeks is significantly less than before her little friend arrived.

Whisper is actually turning out to be an assistance dog for us all . My (Mum) mental health is on the up and it’s no coincidence that is happening since Whisper has joined us. The family seems to have pulled together around this one little yellow haired beautiful soul.

But I have to be honest she does have a slight fault - she absolutely loves cow poo. The greener and squisher the better. In fact after one walk she looked like she was in camouflage gear!! But that’s dogs for you and in he grand scheme of things , a tiny tiny fault!!

We love Whisper and cannot Thank Helpful Hounds enough for bringing her into our lives. We hope she’s with us to stay and can’t wait to get training with her .
