Weʼre raising £10,000 to help fund Cancer Research UK & Mind (Mental Health)

Don't have time to donate right now?

After lockdown and a tough couple of years .. with the return to the workplace, WHP Telecoms Warrington office decided we wanted to use the return to come together as a collective and give something back to the community.

We discussed lots of wonderful charities that could benefit from additional funds, but the 2 that rose to the top of our thoughts was Cancer Research UK and Mind (mental health). Sadly, the probability is that throughout our lives, we may all be touched by cancer or mental health issues in some way, and with that in mind we wanted any funds raised to help support these 2 charities and those who are suffering. As more so now than ever ... as we emerge from lockdown, we find our health system in a backlog of cancer care patients, and lockdown itself has taken its toll on many of our mental wellbeing, both young and old.

To raise money for these deserving charities, we wanted to set a challenge where we all come together as a Team to complete! So, we are lacing up our climbing boots and putting our best stomping foot forward to complete the ‘3 Peaks of Saddleworth’. The walk which is around 14 miles will take on local landmarks Indian’s Head, Pots and Pans and Wharmton Hill. The route is a challenging one … but we are hoping for a clear day to be rewarded with some spectacular views whilst up high on the peaks. We are a 83 strong walking team, and we are all aiming to raise over £100 each! Please can you help us reach our overall target of £10,000?! Any monies raised will be divided down the middle for each of our chosen charities. All donations big or small are very much appreciated indeed, and it really does mean a lot to us! If there is a particular member of our walking team you are sponsoring, drop their name in your donation comments – they would love to see your support!

Here are just a few examples of how your money can have a positive impact on our chosen charities …

• Cancer Research UK - £5 Could help towards the cost of kitting out one of the research labs with the essential chemical’s scientists need

• Cancer Research UK - £15 Could help scientists carry out their ground-breaking research in the lab, covering the cost of a polyacrylamide gel, which separate out different sized bits of DNA and reveals clues about how to beat cancer

• Mind - £20 could run online peer support community Side By Side for an hour, helping people connect with others and feel less alone.

• Mind - £50 could help campaign for better mental health services from the Government, ensuring people get the support they need, as soon as they need it.

Thank you for taking time out to support WHP in our challenge!
