WEST HAM UNITED SUPPORTERS CLUB - REFUSING TO FADE AND DIE
West Ham United Supporters Club is a historical institution located close to the site of the old Boleyn Ground, 2017 marks its 70th anniversary. Since West Ham United moved to the London Stadium the Supporters Club has lost significant match day revenue with customer numbers dropping from 500 to just 10 people on match days. It is clear that West Ham supporters would like the Supporters Club to be located closer to The London Stadium.
The Supporters Club has a brand new committee that was formed in June 2017. The committee has clear and focused plans for the future of the Castle Street building and we are actively looking to secure a new venue whilst fighting to retain the history of the Supporters Club in the Green Street area.
Many of you may know that the Castle Street premises recently closed its doors due to significant maintenance needs. The new committee is seeking donations from fans to help restore the building with a view to increasing community use. Some may have heard that we have been fortunate to be able to secure a temporary match day venue at Stour Space on Fish Island. Funds from the match day venue will also be used to help retain and develop the Castle Street building.
We plan to use Castle Street as our main base, increase community use, share and display the history of West Ham United within the club, develop the venue into an improved events space and host events for our members. It is hoped that the funds generated from Stour Space and the improved Castle Street facilities will provide an opportunity to find our own second venue close to the new stadium.
Any help you can provide in the form of a donation, large or small, will be a huge help. We will also be looking to secure the services of volunteers in the form of reputable, qualified, affiliated companies that could help with some of the many repairs we need to carry out on the Castle Street building.
