Sadly on the 26th of December 2022 we lost our dear friend Declan to a sudden cardiac arrest. Dec was one of life’s good guys, completely selfless and a proper mate. We were privileged to have spent an evening of curry and beers with Dec not long before his death. Discussions resurfaced of the 6 of us walking the West Highland Way together and so we have chosen to walk in Dec’s memory, knowing it is something he wanted to do.

The 5 of us have known Declan since 2009 when we all embarked on parenthood together. Over the years we have gotten to know Dec as a loving husband to Claire and a devoted father to their 3 kids, Erin, Euan & Cian. Declan’s life was sadly cut short at the young age of 47.

Declan was a huge rugby fan. He had a strong interest in encouraging kids to take up this great sport while coaching the youngsters at Aberdeen Grammar RFC. In memory of Dec’s passion, Claire is currently in the process of setting up a small charity to help sponsor disadvantaged children living in the North East of Scotland who may benefit from engaging in a team sport such as rugby, and we are raising money to support this.
