Weʼre raising £5,000 to help people that have been affected by the recent wildfires in Rafina, Greece

London, UK

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

So far, more than 80 people have died and several people are being hospitalised due to the wildfires burning in the Attica region around Athens, in Greece's worst fire crisis in more than a decade.

Fire swept through the area of Mati, Rafina 40km (25 miles) north-east of Athens on Monday and was still burning in some areas on Tuesday morning. Desperate families trying to reach the safety of the sea, just metres away, were trapped by walls of smoke and flame. Others died in buildings or cars. More than 1000 homes were burnt. And many people are still missing.

Coastal patrol boats and private vessels picked up hundreds of those who did manage to reach harbours or beaches.

The people who survived need our help as they have lost everything.

Please show your active support and solidarity by contributing to our cause.

We are currently investigating most suitable and efficient bodies to donate in order to ensure transparency. Updates will follow.
