Story

Hi, I'm Will and I suffer from a disability called Friedreich’s Ataxia, which is a degenerative neuromuscular disorder. There is no cure. About one in 50,000 people suffer from Friedreich’s Ataxia, I was diagnosed with this condition at 14.

It makes me feel so horrible and cheeky to have to ask for money or donations and I very rarely ask for help, but now I'm asking for some help!

I got diagnosed at 14, going from 'normal' to the wheelchair using 27 year old I am now. So in the space of a few years my life had a drastic change, I went to being a normal young lad looking forward to the future to facing massive struggles.

I've created this page to help raise some of the money for a new custom, made to measure wheelchair and a add on Triride so it can be motorised.

The reason for a made to measure wheelchair is by going this route will help me be more independent, hopefully help the pain/discomfort I suffer from a standard wheelchair and also increase my quality of life.

I am a massive motorsport fan, cars, motorbikes, anything with an engine! The add on motorised Triride would further add to my independnce, get out and about without the need for someone to push, even on gravel or grass which would be a massive thing, enabling me to adventure the parts I am missing, trapped.

I have my ups and downs, good and bad days but overall think in 13 years I've dealt with a lot and through the experiance I feel I can now deal with most things that are thrown at me! I don't like being in a wheelchair, it's ruined a lot for me but then it has also made me gain amazing people in my life, ironically usually by 'standing out' so a more practical chair that helps my needs would help a long way.

Thank You for donating, even if you just spread the word of the condition and Ataxia UK charity you have helped. :D
