Poverty is widespread in rural Tanzania many local people don’t have access to clean drinking water, healthcare, education or proper sanitation. Whilst there, I will take part in projects aimed at improving the quality of life for local communities. Projects are based around the needs of each community and include low level building, making school furniture, painting classrooms or constructing water tanks as well as projects aimed at conserving local wildlife by helping to restore and protect some of Tanzania’s most vulnerable habitats and animals.

Camps International is global charity which seeks to help deprived areas across the world whilst also giving students and volunteers like me, the opportunity of an experience of a lifetime through their travel to, and investment in helping these communities. I am taking part through Beauchamp College.

To enable me to take part I need to raise £4000 towards the cost of the trip and to help me to deliver the projects when I am in Tanzania.

Over the next year I aim to complete a number of challenges including running 1 mile for every 40 it is between Leicester and the capital of Tanzania, Dodomo (around 150 miles). I will complete a sponsored cycle challenge and hope to complete the three peaks challenge climbing Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours.

As my charity is about helping local communities, one of my aims is to promote local businesses and communities in my area. In return for sponsorship I can display their logo and story on a T Shirt and publicity board.
