Story
I'm giving underprivileged children in Delhi, India, opportunities that only exist for the upper castes - to learn music, instruments, singing, songwriting, production, as well as holistic skill such as academic studies, finances and general life skills. This will lead to institutional acknowledgement and career opportunities.
I first experienced India in 2015 when I went out there on tour with Hillsong band to do fundraising concerts for a local children's home in Goa. The visit left a deep and long lasting impression in me and made me want to help in any way I can. Because I can.
So in 2018 I moved out to the same children's home where I taught music for 6 years. Those children are now in bands, or working, or studying for their masters degree! Some are even teaching music!
Now I'm going out to live in Delhi to work with an extra two non-government organisations. I'll be writing curricula for music classes in government schools (where music is not even considered, let alone taught), teaching children from local slums, and I'll keep teaching children from the home in Goa.
I have seen first-hand the transformational power that a weekly music lesson has on these children.
The academic certification brings societal acceptance and greater career opportunities.
The development of creative ways of thinking brings momentum and flexibility to life's choices and challenges.
The routine classes bring discipline.
The money raised will cover the deficit I have of ONE YEAR of living in India. These funds will enable and empower countless children due to my model of raising up not only students but teachers. So please give generously.
