Story

Hi! As many of you know I’ve suffered through very bad mental health issues over the past 10 years that have made it extremelt difficult to support myself financially.

In April my housing benefit was cut in half due to having to go through assesments for both my Disability Living Allowance and my Employment & Support Allowance. My Employment & Support Allowance assement period happened very quickly and I was awarded the same amount of money I usually recieve. However due to everyone recieving Disability Living Allowance being moved to the Personal Independence Payment benefit, that assement has taken longer to recieve a decision on, which would restore my housing benefit back to an amount that would help cover my rent.

Last month I had some very good friends help me cover my rent by donating over £200. I had hoped that I’d be able to resolve my financial situation before my rent was due this month, but I’ve been told today that I probably wont recieve a decision until next Friday at the earliest and with my rent being due before the end of this week I don‘t have too many options.

I have £200 in my bank account at the moment, so I’ve set this at £530 which is rhe full amount of my rent, as I have bills and food I need to pay for this month as well. I dont expect to reach the £530 target but any amount would be incredibly appreciated.

Depending on my assesment decision I may still need to move out of my flat, but this will buy me another month so that I don‘t need to move out prematurely as I‘ll be able to afford it if the decision is what i expect it be.

lots of words! Thanks for reading, and this is pretty embarassing, so thanks for not being too judgmental.
