Story
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
We all have such little time these days but please bear with us as we try and tell you a story - Joshua’s story. Someone who really did have so very little time.
On 4th February 2022, Joshua was born. He was born 16 weeks early and weighed just 700gr (Approx 1.2lb).
He was so tiny but so beautiful and from the moment he was born he hung onto life for all he was worth. He stole our hearts.
On 4th August, yes six months to the day from his birth, he was taken from us. Being born so early the odds were always stacked against him but we thought he had made it. He was growing. Getting stronger. But now he’s gone. Our hearts are broken.
What can we do? Joshua has left such a gap in our lives.
But Joshua gave us inspiration. He never gave up. So we are not going to give up either.
Joshua spent much of his short life at Faro Hospital. The doctors and nurses and all the staff there were amazing. But those wonderful people had such limited resources. So we are going to raise funds on their behalf.
The money we raise will NOT go into some charitable pot and get used up on administration. The money will go directly to helping with those important bits of equipment that we might take for granted in the UK. The staff have told us how they are desperate for a new incubator which costs approximately 20,000 Euros.
What are we going to do? We are going to get on our bikes. Not something Will has done for a long, long time. Joshua’s Dad hasn’t been on a bike in over 10 years. We are going to cycle the famous Portuguese Route 66 - the N2 - a 738km route climbing over 9000m. This will take place between April 15th and April 21st 2023.
It will be a challenge. We need to go into training. It will be hard work for Dad (Will) fitting in the training alongside a full time job, but we will be doing it to make a difference. We will be doing it for Joshua … and little ones like him.
So if you can, please make a donation however small, it will make a difference, even sharing this link will help make a huge difference for us.
