Story

Tony and I lost our baby at 14 weeks and 5 days. The whole traumatic experience happened with no pain and no warning, in front of my 3 youngest children, ages 15, 12 and 3 years old.

The kids and I were simply running errands when the bleeding started. We were in the car and I made an quick decision to stop in the nearest car park - McDonalds. My children had no choice but to see me collapse on a grass verge, vomiting and bleeding out.....

Emergency services were called by my brave son, who guessed what was happening. They took me away while a midwife (there with her family and also an L&D staff member) stayed with my children until another friend came to collect them and my blood soaked car. A Zafira collected 2 hours previously to make way for our much loved and wanted new arrival.....

Once at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, I was rushed to resus where a lot more happened but the haemorrhage and miscarriage were confirmed.

Willow was born a short while later, with "no signs of life" at 14 weeks and 5 days. Our baby girl was gone. The pain and devastation we feel is overwhelming, all consuming and always there but the support we have received and the continued care has been immeasurable. It makes me proud that this level of humanity is still out there. My children are receiving counselling due to what they saw, their own grief and we were given the required details by the midwives at the hospital. These professionals don't leave their work at the Hospital, and they feel what we do. It's not an easy thing to sit with a grieving parent at 4am, and get it right.

We are devastated and will always grieve for our baby but out of our pain, we want to make sure that the Early Pregnancy Loss Fund has as much funding as possible to support other families going through this pain.

Please, give what you can. No one asks for this and every single one who suffers this, parent, sibling, grandparent or friend, will need the support that is offered by this wonderful fund.
