I've raised £700 to The Preservation Hall Foundation & New Orleans Musicians Clinic

UPDATE: We have made it to Natchez. So we've cycled over 500 miles down the entire length of the Nactehz Trace. An ancient route that is now a great cycling road from Nashville to the Mississippi. Since we've gone past our original £500 target we have raised it to £700 and anything over the original £500 will go to the New Orleans Musicians Clinic, an organisation providing affordable and comprehensive healthcare to New Orleans musicians. https://neworleansmusiciansclinic.org/ Trying to raise £1 for every mile we cycle!
This September we are cycling 725 miles from Nashville to New Orleans - through the Cradle of the Blues - to celebrate finishing two decades in education! Along the way we want to give something back to the communities we pass through and are raising money for the Preservation Hall Foundation. If you can spare a dime to help us support this fantastic place that is keeping the music heritage of The Big Easy alive by providing music education to young New Orleanians we'd be most grateful!!
In their own words, the Preservation Hall Foundation aims to: "Serve the next generation of New Orleans musicians and listeners through our education programs. We serve at-risk youth at schools, detention centers, and community centers in the Greater New Orleans area. The core constituency of our music students are elementary and secondary-schoolers, for whom we subsidize or completely underwrite the cost of weekly music classes, field trips, and educational resources".
It's doing incredible work keeping the music of New Orleans alive, and the venue itself has been a mainstay of the music scene since 1961, as the great Louis Armstrong once said "Preservation Hall. Now that's where you'll find all of the greats."
We're riding from Nashville, Tennessee, through Cherokee, Alabama to Jackson, Mississippi eventually heading down to Baton Rouge and New Orleans. We'll sampling the music and food heavily along the way and blogging, interviewing and uploading videos to Facebook and Instagram (@wilsonemj) so make sure to follow our progress.
Thanks a lot!
