Story

It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my long-time friend, stable-mate and business partner, Bunny Sterling.

I wish to pay tribute to one of this century’s finest boxers, Bunny Sterling. A credit to British Boxing, and a pioneer in the sport, being the first Caribbean to fight for, and win, a British Title, opening the path for so many to follow.

I have many happy memories of training days and early morning runs, of the Highgate Gym witnessing him sparring. Awe inspiring to a new stable-boy. He was a jovial gentleman, whose friendship I cherished in boxing and in business since his retirement, all these years.

A truly great and generous Champion all round. His legacy will live on.

We call on all boxing fans, fighters and historians, to give generously, no matter how small, on our Just Giving, Crowd Funding page, towards the cost of funeral expenses and personal debts he incurred prior to his death.

Bunny Sterling died in acute poverty, lonely and bewildered, following long-term dementia. Let's give him a dignified send-off.

R.I.P. my friend. I salute you.
