Story
On 1st October I will be running the Glasgow 10k on behalf of our family to help raise funds for the Wishaw General Neonatal Unit.
In July 2021 our little warrior Breagha arrived into the world early and needing immediate support and medical care. Due to COVID rules, we weren’t able to be with her for a number of days. The neonatal team at Wishaw General not only took outstanding care of Breagha medically in a time of great need, but took our place for that time apart as her champions, making sure she felt loved and nurtured. Breagha’s journey in the neonatal unit then extended to the transitional care ward where we were able to be together as a family. Every step of the way we were blown away by the standard of care that the neonatal unit provides.
Thankfully Breagha has shown us time and time again how strong and fierce she is, and with amazing care from the neonatal team whilst in hospital and in her last 2 years of life being supported by the neonatal neurodevelopment team, she is just continuing to amaze us every day. We are so proud of how far she has come.
The neonatal team at Wishaw General not only do amazing work in a medical capacity, but their love and support for the babies in their care and their families is just above and beyond. We are so grateful for everything that the unit has done for Breagha, and all of us. They support so many babies and families every single day both in hospital and beyond.
