    Story

Every month West Midlands Police Benevolent Fund offers help and support to its police colleagues suffering from financial hardship or distress. The Fund was set up in 1974, when West Midlands Police was formed, and over the last 10 years it has handed out nearly £1 million in benefits to help serving, officers, police staff and their families.

This year, some of our members have volunteered to support our vital work by taking part in the Great Birmingham Run on Sunday 14 October.

We have an incredible team of runners made up of serving and retired officers, police staff, as well as family members and friends of the Benevolent Fund.

Please support them and their amazing efforts by donating today.

Your donation will enable the Fund to provide life changing equipment, including mobility aids, to members who have been injured whilst on duty. Donations will also support members diagnosed with a serious illness, recovering from life-changing surgery or coping with a chronic health condition.

As a police officer we spend most of our professional lives helping the public...but sometimes we need to be cared for too. After 23 years police service, the Benevolent Fund was there for me as my safety blanket, just as officers are there for the public day in day out.

Our Ben Fund runners put the ‘GREAT’ into the Simply Health Great Birmingham Run yesterday, Sunday 14 October, when they battled the torrential rain to accomplish the half marathon. With over 11,000 people taking part we were keen to spot our amazing runners as they crossed the finishing line and thank them for their incredible efforts. You were all truly magnificent, well done, thank you and see you next year to do it all again!
