I'm raising £15000 to support the community

Story

Who cares for the carers? That question first moved me to speak out in an article published by Senegal's national broadcaster, because it reflects a reality that too often goes unseen.

In Senegal, care is carried largely by women — raising children, supporting elders, tending to the sick, and holding families together through hardship. Their work is essential, yet it is often done in silence, exhaustion, and isolation. "Ñune ñoy ñome" is Wolof for "we are them" — a reminder that these women are not separate from our communities, but at the heart of them.

This campaign is about turning solidarity into action. Your support helps create three practical responses: Touba, a therapeutic community for newly widowed women and their children, with pathways back into economic activity; Kegneto, where a broken borehole can be repaired so women’s communal farms have water again; and Pakao Sud, a cooperative of 400 women already organizing together so they can sell and negotiate as one.

Across all three regions, we are also working toward a crèche — a place of respite for mothers and play-based learning for children. Because when a woman earns an income, the benefit does not stop with her. It strengthens a child’s education, supports family health, and builds greater stability across the community.

We need to raise £15,000 to keep this work moving forward. If you are able, please tag your donation "Touba", "Kegneto", or "Pakao" to direct it to a specific project; untagged gifts will be split equally. We will continue to share regular updates with full transparency.

We talk. We unite. We heal as a community. Please donate today and help us build dignity, opportunity, and hope for women and families across Senegal.
