Story

We are working hard to raise funds to reopen the much loved and very much needed, Woodchurch Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool.

The council have sadly condemned the building for demolition, however, if we can match fund the £330.000 demolition costs they have agreed to asset transfer the building back to the community.

If we can raise enough funds and save the building, we intend to rename the leisure centre as “Woodchurch Wellbeing and Wellness Centre”. The building has so much potential not only for the local, but wider community across Woodchurch and Wirral.

Due to COVID-19 and the subsequent council closures, many children have been denied the opportunity to learn how to swim. If we are successful in raising funds, we are intending to make full use of the facilities on site, including the swimming pool, theatre and outdoor facilities for a range of sport, leisure, yoga, music therapy and more.

We would also be looking at different provisions for health and social care, and activities inclusive of special education needs and disabilities. The whole project is aiming for a diverse range of environmentally sustainable programmes, sports and leisure facilities. Woodchurch Wellbeing and Wellness Centre will be a not for profit community interest company, run by the community for the community.
