Story
Transforming Woodley Cricket Club
Woodley Cricket Club is a fantastic community club where many of the locals enjoy spending their time, both on and off the cricket field.
Unfortunately, there is limited access to the pavilion for wheelchair users and those that have mobility challenges. In order to encourage more participation in cricket and in encouraging attendance at social events we aim to increase the size of the veranda and incorporate a ramp to ensure easier access. However, this means investment and our planned fundraising has been limited by lack of revenue over the bar and the lack of players subs and fees.
We have established an overall Crowdfunding page for this planned transformation work and you can find further details in the following link:
https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/facility-improvements-incl-disability-access-ramp
That page will help you understand our plans and aspirations and where you will find a number of opportunities to donate with varying levels of contribution for both individuals and businesses. Depending on the value of donation you will receive a reward in return. Please have a look when you get the chance.
The purpose of this particular Just Giving page is to seek sponsorship for one of our key initiatives that will then be transferred to the overall Crowdfunder page. Our overall target is to raise £12,500 and we are targeting £5,000 of that via this initiative which is our first ever Woodley 100km Club Run.
What is the Club Run?
In order to kick off the fundraising at a pace. we have decided to run a collective 100km in one day that will be executed by a number of our members who will visit all of the cricket grounds in the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League.
This will be done in a relay format where members of the club will each run from one ground to another, passing the cricketing baton onto another member(s) for the next leg.
The run will begin at Woodley on the morning of the 18th July and stretches as far and wide as Dove Holes and Pott Shrigley before returning home to Woodley.
We appreciate any donations as they go a long way to improving what is already a fantastic club for the community.
The legs are as follows:
1. Woodley to Newton - 3.4 miles - Danny Kay & Dan Rathburn
2. Newton to Stalybridge – 2.2 miles –Jake Hounslow & Will Adam
