Story

Worcester Sea Cadets was formed in 1937 and is a charity who has supported thousands of local young people aged 10-18. We assist our cadets to instil valuable life skills, to achieve their full potential, and contribute positively to their community. We transform them into confident, resilient young people who thrive in a complex world. Many of these ex-cadets then go on to help and support the next generation within our community.

We have grown our unit recently to incorporate Royal Marines cadets and currently have approx. 50 loyal cadets who dedicate their time to attend and where we (the volunteers) aim to give our young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be, in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities and adventures, we learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, honesty and how to be the best version of themselves.

Recent vandalism has caused significant damage to our Diglis Boating Station. The perpetrators of this senseless act have caused extensive destruction including broken windows, graffiti and attempted break in’s. This has effected the well-being and morale of those who have worked so hard to try and better their selves. By setting up this page, this will ensure that the funds the volunteers and cadets work so hard to attain for through voluntary activities can pay for trips and boating equipment.

Our aim is to add security around the unit in Portland walk, which is located on the banks of the picturesque River Severn. By adding CCTV, security lights, and fencing will not only help deter anti-social behaviour but will also reassure nearby residents, walkers, dog walkers, cyclists and everyone who uses the, currently ‘unlit’, part of the footpath on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, our organisation does not have sufficient resources to cover these expenses without assistance. So this is where you come in! Your contribution will not only repair the physical damage, improve security but will also send out a powerful message of solidarity and resilience to the community and ensure that we can swiftly address and restore not only our facility but keep the ever-popular historical part of Worcester a safer place.

We can spread the word and reach out to family, friends, ex-cadets, work colleagues, local community, and businesses, please can we ask you to do the same, spread the word and together we will reach our goal.
