Story

What makes Work-Shop so special!

I am raising money for Work-Shop who are a not-for-profit organisation who give so much purpose and structure to the lives of local adults with learning disabilities / acquired brain injuries and/or autism through purposeful work based activities.

I will be competing in my first triathlon to raise money for Work-Shop on Sunday 7th May 2023.

Work-Shop set out to improve lives by supporting and encouraging those who attend to achieve so much more than they ever believed was possible! Learning diverse new skills through stimulating and varied work activities, participants become part of the adult workforce in a calm and supportive environment so that they are able to build on the skills gained from education. Work-Shop helps to develop participant’s abilities and skills by tailoring the activity to each person’s level, gently and steadily supporting the increase in skills required to complete each task. By joining the conversation of work, their participants become included in the adult world, and the combination of personal success, regular social interaction and motivation creates fulfilment and a sense of accomplishment and self-worth.

Luke who I work with (pictured above), gets so much out of his once a week session. He has struggled in employment and voluntary work in the past due to not receiving enough support. This is certainly not the case with Work-Shop. He is able to thrive in their supportive environment and he gets a real sense of purpose and joy out of each task (especially making the greeting cards as he is super creative!)

I would be so grateful if you would help me to support this amazing organisation.
