About Worn Whiskers Retreat. I am an entirely self-funded forever home to cats with long term/life limiting illness/disabilities. With the expert help of my vets, I nurse them back to “health” and care for them, medically and emotionally, for the rest of their days. 🐱😽😻

The cats are VERY loved and VERY content.

It all started with Tom, my 24yr old cat who was blind and deaf…then came JJ, a 3 legged black cat rescued after being hit by a car, and Fudge who just turned up at the door, starving and dehydrated, and never left…the rest is history!

I have rescued and adopted over 50 cats, over the last 10 years or so, who otherwise may not have survived. I’ve given a home to cats who have been abandoned or surrendered by their owners, injured cats found close to death, cats born with life long conditions…I gave a home to the cats that no-one wanted. 😿

The one thing that most of the cats have in common is underlying health conditions - from a cat with one eye, to another with no ears, numerous with heart and stomach conditions, injuries and missing limbs, and several with a condition called Cerebella Hyperplasia.

I spend all my time outside my (other) full time job caring for the cats to give them a home where they are safe and loved. I’m entirely self funded - paying for ALL their food, litter, bedding, enrichment, ongoing vets bills, insurance and medication. This runs into several thousands of pounds every single month.

Due to their conditions, some aren’t with me long, but while they are, they live a happy and contented life. The amazing staff at my vets always say they want to “come back” as one of my rescue cats as they have the best life imaginable. 🥰

I’m not a registered charity and paying to care for the cats can be difficult at times. Donations and help from the community, however small, would be gratefully received.
