WatotoSmile4Life (WS4L) is a charity (non-profit organisation) that helps children and the elderly in Mbeya, Tanzania with dental problems. Oral health can lead to serious medical condition, irreversibly damaging teeth and in extreme cases, the bones (fluorosis). Fluorosis is source of stigma and embarrassment for children with discoloured teeth. The WHO says that Tanzania has the most severe and widespread groundwater-quality problem (fluorosis).

GOAL

Our goal is to provide children with highest quality dental care in a comfortable, relaxed and friendly environment at no cost.

AIMS

To reach out to children in schools and the surrounding rural areas to provide oral education.

To build and equip the dental centre in Mbeya, Tanzania.

To facilitate the use of funds to carry out the work of free dental treatment for disadvantaged children and elderly in Mbeya (Tanzania).

To collaborate with and support other charities with similar purposes in Tanzania and United Kingdom.

To promote and support dental training by sponsoring orphans in local communities with college fees

i. Encourage pursuit of further dental education (Vocational Schools and University)

ii. Identify and support students who are unable to financially continue their education
SERVICES
The charity offers a variety of free services at the dental centre in Mbeya. The services offered include, tooth extraction, root canals, tooth filling, oral hygiene and other types of dental problems.

TREATMENT OF FLUROSIS
In addition to root canals and extracting teeth, the charity treats fluorosis a condition caused by too much fluoride in groundwater. The condition leads to discoloration or spots on the tooth enamel.

SCHOOLS OUTREACH
The Watoto smile For Life (Tanzania) in collaboration with Colgate Limited in Tanzania provides free oral education to schoolchildren in Mbeya.
