Story

THE BIG RIDE 2021

This years Big Charity Ride will be a total of 1704miles over 4 days. The route will start at Portsmouth then on to Fishguard, Bangor, Inverness, John o’ Groats, Glasgow and then returning to Portsmouth.

This ride is a joint charity event for the Widows Sons MBA made up of The Stonecutters, Southern Chapter and Shires Chapter who are all raising money for their respective annual charities. The Stonecutters nominated charities for 2021 are listed below.

DAN PAYNE MEMORIAL FUND

The Dan Payne Memorial Fund is a family based charity who support children dealing with cancer. They do this by making items and selling them at local craft fairs. They rely heavily on donations and support families providing things such as travel tickets, wigs and accommodation.

THE LOGANBERRY TRUST

Working in conjunction with The Graham Fulford Charitable Trust which has been doing PSA screenings for about ten years. The Loganberry Trust set about hiring venues and planning testing programmes.

By doing PSA tests early you can catch prostate cancer early and the numbers they are catching are more than twice the national average but the closest they get to Swindon is Reading - there is nothing in Wiltshire.

The Loganberry Trust organises drop-in sessions, which involves a man filling out a basic questionnaire and a nurse taking a small blood sample to be sent off and tested. Individuals with high scores will be contacted directly by a medical practitioner.

DocBike - Dorset

The DocBike charity combines a highly qualified (consultant level) Doctor or Critical Care Paramedic with two wheels to reduce deaths and serious injuries on our roads due to motorcycle collisions. Wherever possible, the Doctor or Paramedic also work on the local air ambulance. It is part of their every-day job, to treat and save the most severely injured and sick patients and help them to reach hospital alive.

The past year has been very hard on all charities. Please help us support them by donating. Every penny raised for these charities goes to well and worthy causes. Thank you!!
