Story

To be told out of the blue you have leukemia is pretty tough. On May 18 from nowhere Mikus a father of two lovely daughters aged 51 years old was told he has Acute Lymphoid Leukemia. Its all of our worst dreams. Having never ever been in hospital in his life and prided himself on eating well and exercising etc, he has now spent the last 2 weeks having treatment in Hammersmith Hospital and there is a long maybe bumpy road ahead of him of treatment with NHS over the next 12 months.

There will be costs that we cannot imagine as yet... childcare for his 2 daughters for starter, then possibly counselling and nutrition and dietary advice to make him strong again, maybe a carer for when he comes out of hospital and is recuperating, even a few pounds will cover the many uber rides to get him to and from hospital, on and on......

Many have asked how they can help. Mikus seems to have loads of friends spanning the globe and their supportive texts and emails are valuable to keep his spirits up. But what can anyone do for Mikus living so far away on the other side of the world or for those in London who after a few visits want to help more......?

The only thing we can think of at the moment is to possibly put some money- just a little bit - into the pot to help him and if all his hundreds of friends do this around the world then over the months ahead things might be made slightly less stressful and his life in and out of hospital a little more palatable ..

In advance .. a huge thank you
