Story

“Nigeria's food crisis: by the time famine is declared, it's too late” (The Guardian, 2017)

Christmas is very nearly upon us and having a warm, meticulously planned and expensive family meal is the norm for the vast majority of us during the festive period.

As we know but do not often ponder, however, this is not always the case for millions upon millions of people.

As a matter a fact, a regular meal of any description isn't a given for many people.

This Christmas, we want to ask for your help to contribute to Food for Life’s goal of feeding 1,500+ people who are in dire need with nutritious, plant based meals that not only nourish the body but also nourish the soul.

As a special thank you for your kind donation, you will be given a book outlining the philosophy of karma free eating, along with delicious and easy recipes plus videos and photos from our volunteers onsite

Here are some absolutely incredible facts about FFL:

• The world’s largest vegan/vegetarian food distribution program serving millions of meals daily, with projects in over 60 countries

• More than 1.2 MILLION school children are served multi-course hot, healthy, and tasty lunch 6 days a week in cities throughout the sub-continent, through a partnership with the Indian government for the ‘Mid-day Meal’ scheme (ensuring children are not forced to work as child labourers to make enough to just simply eat)

• FFL respond to many natural disasters from the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami to the current crisis in Europe

• Lauded by The NY Times and government relief agencies worldwide for its efforts worldwide

• Started by the spiritual teacher Srila Prabhupada in 1974 upon witnessing a group of children and street dogs fighting over scraps. He subsequently asked his students to set up this initiative, which has now resulted in 170 free food kitchens, home delivery programs, mobile kitchens, school services and disaster relief programs
