As a teacher of Insight Meditation and Buddhist practice and philosophy, for over 30 years Yanai has offered his teaching without charging. He has received his livelihood through the freely offered generosity of students and practitioners who felt moved and able to offer financial support, known as "Dana" in the tradition.

Yanai has been unable to engage in his teaching work since March, following being diagnosed with Colon cancer after participating in the NHS national screening programme. The treatment has required a major surgery in April and several courses of chemotherapy which are due to continue through August, and after some further time of recovery, he hopes to be able to be teaching again in October. Yanai has some savings so is not in immediate financial difficulty, but will be without regular income for 7-8 months. He is very aware of the financial pressures that many are feeling at this time, so trusts that you will respect your own circumstances and care also for your needs, in any offering you may make.
