Camden Universal Scrubs Collective
Universal Dry Cleaners & Laundry are working with local residents' associations, patient participation groups, and other local volunteers aiming to produce 1500 free sets of scrubs for front line health workers.
Covid-19 has brought on a nationwide shortage of scrubs and even the raw materials used to make them. The need for easy-to-clean uniforms has become paramount. Most health care workers are now working overtime, and as such need multiple sets of uniforms to keep on rotation.
We want to provide finished scrubs to those who need them at no cost to themselves and at no profit to us.
We are already providing scrubs to the Camden COVID response unit and the Covid hot hub in Soho, but want to scale up our effort.
We have been hugely inspired by the incredible support we have received so far from our local communities in Kentish Town, Tufnell Park, Camden and Islington.
Dr Dilini Kalupahana of The James Wigg Practice in Kentish Town says ‘we are enormously moved by the local response to our need for protective clothing. Thanks to all!’
Dr Clare Orrom Swan of The Fitzrovia Medical Centre says 'We are so grateful to everyone who has made and donated the scrubs, it really makes a difference and helps keep us safe. Thank you!'
If this page gets funded over its target, the excess will be used to purchase more material and continue making scrubs, provided that the demand is still there.
If there is no longer a high demand for scrubs, the excess will be donated directly to NHS UK.
